The CORONATION COACH, originally intended to celebrate the 50th anniversary of King George VI and Queen Elizabeth, had a king and queen figure inside. Do to the Korean war, a ban on materials, the death of King George and plans for Queen Elizabeth II to be the sole occupant at her coronation, Lesney removed the king from the mold, leaving only his legs. Prior to this decision there were approximately two hundred original Coach's Cast.
The original models Lesney produced were of a larger scale than that of the regular wheels. In the late 1950s Lesney once again began producing a larger scale series. The Major Pack series then evolved into the King Size series. The K-17 LOW LOADER WITH BULLDOZER was released as King Size where other models were released as both Major Pack and King Size.
From the onslaught Lesney created variations. Wheel variations often play a part in rarity. One such variation would be created with Lesney's transition from Regular Wheels to Superfast Wheels in the late 1960's. Color changes were also being made at this time of transition, producing rare models. The number 75 Ferrari Berlinetta released entirely in shades of green was changed to red. The red Ferrari Berlinetta with regular wheels is very rare as is the green car with superfast wheels.
